Parents In shock after JMPD searched a school & busted some White learners with the unbelievable
South Africa has been plagued by high rates of violent crime, including murder, rape, and robbery, for decades. Despite some progress, crime remains a serious issue, particularly in certain areas of the country.
On Tuesday, March 14th, 2023, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Social Crime Prevention Unit conducted a school search at Hoerskool Stoffberg in Springs as part of a wider initiative to search schools throughout the City of Ekurhuleni in Gauteng. The search was prompted by a high number of illicit substances found in recent weeks.
The EMPD, in partnership with other law enforcement agencies, aims to address and curb the use of illicit substances, such as dagga, in schools. It is believed that some schools have become hubs for the distribution and sale of such substances, which not only poses a danger to the learners but also perpetuates the cycle of crime in the country.
While the confiscation of a small packet of dagga and several e-cigarettes from learners at Hoerskool Stoffberg may seem insignificant, they represent a larger issue that needs to be addressed to ensure the safety and well-being of learners. The EMPD’s efforts to combat crime in schools are commendable and demonstrate a commitment to creating safer learning environments for South Africa’s youth. However, it is important to note that crime in the country extends far beyond the school gates.
