50-Year-Old Man Lands In Serious Trouble As Officers Saw Something On Him, Look What They Found
In a joint operation carried out by members of the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation, Crime Intelligence, Crime Prevention, and the National Intervention Unit, a 50-year-old man was arrested on Friday, August 4, 2023, on charges of drug dealing, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and possession of live rounds of ammunition.
Acting on a tip-off about a suspect involved in drug-related activities, law enforcement officials swiftly organized a coordinated operation. The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, was allegedly in possession of narcotics within the vicinity of Durban. Pursuing leads, authorities observed the suspect boarding a taxi and tracked its route towards the South Coast.
The operation culminated in the interception of the taxi near the off-ramp. As police officers approached, the suspect attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by the pursuing team. Upon searching the suspect, law enforcement officials uncovered a significant haul of illegal items, including heroin capsules and mandrax tablets. Additionally, a firearm and a cache of 65 live rounds of ammunition were discovered in his possession.
The confiscated drugs, including heroin capsules and mandax tablets, have an estimated street value of approximately R24,000-00. The suspect was promptly charged in accordance with the nature of his possessions and activities. He is set to appear before the Magistrate’s Court today, where he will face the charges brought against him.
The successful joint operation conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies underscores the determination of South African authorities to combat organized crime, drug trafficking, and the illegal possession of firearms.
