Rachael Ojuromi Walks Chanel SS27 After Viral Lagos Recreation Catches Matthieu Blazy’s Eye
Nigerian model and creative director Rachael Ojuromi has walked in Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2027 show at the Grand Palais in Paris, turning a viral Lagos recreation into a full-circle fashion moment.
The 22-year-old first drew international attention when she and her close friend and stylist, Debby Fasingha, recreated Chanel’s Métiers d’Art looks using thrifted pieces sourced around Lagos. Their reimagining of the luxury house’s runway imagery included a shoot on the Red Line rail overpass in Yaba.
The recreation caught the eye of Chanel creative director Matthieu Blazy, who commented “Everything” under their viral video on Instagram. That moment helped bring Rachael’s creative work to a much wider fashion audience, and her modelling career soon gained momentum, with agency representation now spanning New York, Paris and London.
From Lagos Street Scenes to the Grand Palais

On 6 October 2026, Rachael walked in Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2027 presentation at the Grand Palais. The show, titled La Conversation — Part Three — Different Faces of the Same Coin, placed her among the models presenting Matthieu Blazy’s latest collection for the French fashion house.
For Rachael and Debby, the idea behind the Lagos recreations was simple but ambitious: reinterpret Chanel’s Métiers d’Art looks using second-hand pieces found around Lagos, then reframe the luxury house’s runway imagery through their own creative lens. The result travelled far beyond its original setting, eventually leading Rachael from Lagos street scenes to one of Chanel’s biggest global stages.
A Creative Career Built Before Chanel

Before Chanel, Rachael had already been building a creative career of her own. She is the founder of The Process Africa, a platform focused on emerging African talent, and her background in film, writing and communication has shaped the way she approaches fashion.
Rather than treating clothes as the whole story, her work often brings together styling, location and visual storytelling — an approach that was clear in the Lagos Chanel recreation that first caught international attention.
Connecting With Matthieu Blazy's Vision

Rachael has long connected with Matthieu Blazy’s work. Reflecting on his Chanel direction, she said: “I connect with what he does so much because of the cunning simplicity in the presentation of his ideas, such grand stories presented in completely digestible ways.”
That same philosophy shaped her own work with Debby Fasingha, taking their Lagos recreations from social media feeds to the Grand Palais.
What started as a creative reinterpretation with a friend has opened a new chapter in Rachael Ojuromi’s modelling career, with Paris now firmly part of her story.
