Bheki Cele: Cars, gun, and suspects in AKA and Tibz’ murder found
Bheki Cele reportedly gave an update on AKA and Tibz’s murder investigation and got candid about the gun, cars, and suspects in the crime.
According to ZiMoja, during a briefing that took place on Tuesday, 26 September, at the Tshedimosetso House in Hatfield, Tshwane, Police Minister Bheki Cele said the KwaZulu Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, has given him new information about the murder investigation of slain rapper AKA – real name Kiernan Jarryd Forbes and late his friend.

South African rapper AKA and his friend, Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane were gunned down on 10 February in Florida road. Before they died, CCTV footage in the area captured moments leading up to the duo’s final moments. Their murder investigation has been running for just over seven months. Police Minister Bheki Cele has previously urged fans and netizens to let the police do their job and not to interrupt the case by jumping to conclusions.
Recently, Cele is said to have given an update on AKA and his celebrity chef friend’s murder investigations. It is not clear whether any suspects have been arrested, however, the suspects have been identified, vehicles used in the crime were found, and the firearm that that took AKA and Tibz’s lives has also been found.
“The cars have been found, people have been identified, and even the firearm used was found… We would request that police are given the space and themselves must resist the push that might end up breaking their case even before they achieve the proper investigation,” Cele was quoted as saying.

AKA was buried in Westpark Cemetery, Randburg on 18 February. On the other hand, Tibz’s memorial service was held on 16 February at Sacred Heart College in Observatory, Johannesburg. He was laid to rest in a private funeral.
