Principal Secretary in charge of State Department for Interior Raymond Omollo has come to the aid of broke popular Luo musician Atommy Sifa.

In a recent interview, the once celebrated Benga artiste revealed the brutal reality of struggling to provide for his family after his music career setback.

Speaking to Tuko.co.ke two weeks ago, Sifa shared how life has taken an unexpected turn since losing his band equipment.

As a result, the once-thriving musician was left with no choice but to turn to small-scale farming in his village in Kendu Bay to support himself and his family.

“Life has been so tough. I am just doing farming here in the village. I have pleaded with my fellow artistes to support me, but none have heard my plea. I am a total orphan,” he said.

Sifa pleaded with well-wishers to help him acquire new music instruments approximately worth half a million saying the tools would allow him to rebuild his band and create new melodies to revive his dwindling career.

“I need three guitars; each costs 2800. Two baseline speakers worth KSh 200,000, four mid full range at 320k, a drum set at 78,000, a keyboard at 66k, a power amplifier worth 100,000, a mixture 80,000, and microphones,” he emotionally said.

Now, Omollo has come to Sifa’s assistance giving him Sh100,000 to purchase part of music instruments.

This information was shared by renowned political operative Billy Arocho, former private bodyguard of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is now working for President William Ruto’s UDA.

“Interior PS Raymond Ajwang Omollo has contributed 100k to controversial Luo Benga singer Atommy Sifa, after the artist pleaded for help from friends and well-wishers recently on his social media forum,” Arocho posted on Facebook.

Sifa’s woes started during 2017 presidential campaigns when he recorded song dubbed Uhuru Nyale (Uhuru is capable) in which he praised the Jubilee leader while castigating ODM boss Raila Odinga.

The artiste face huge criticism over his song with fellow musicians distancing themselves from him and accusing him of being used by Raila’s political rivals.

A gang raided his shop in Homa Bay and promised to teach him a lesson an incident that forced him to go to self-exile in Tanzania.

Sifa later apologised to Raila and his Luo kinsmen saying he had no bad intentions but was trying to make a living by composing the song.

“I also want to take this opportunity to publicly apologise to Raila and the entire Luo community. I want them to know and understand that I had no bad intentions and was only out to make a living,” he said.
