Educational Minister: The Candidate Should Not Be Someone Whose Kids Are Studying Abroad -Emmanuel Osodeke
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is led by Professor Emmanuel Osodeke. Osodeke warns the new Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, in this interview that Nigeria’s educational system was disastrous under the rule of former President Muhammadu Buhari: “Such a minister should be somebody who knows what a university is and who knows what education is”.
He should have the best interests of Nigerian students, both young boys and girls, at heart. The candidate shouldn’t be someone whose kids are studying abroad; instead, they should have family members enrolled in Nigerian secondary and primary institutions.
According to VANGUARD News On Monday, Mamman, 69, took the oath of office as minister of education. Mamman, who was born on July 7th, 1954, earned a Bachelor of Laws degree from Ahmadu Bello University in 1983. His PhD and MSc degrees were earned at the University of Warwick in England. The Minister received the title of Officer of the Order of the Niger, making him the first Senior Advocate of Nigeria from Adamawa State.
