Mmusi weighs in on Emmerson Mnangagwa’s win

Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa has emerged victorious, securing another term in office with a significant lead of 2,350,711 votes, accounting for 52.6% of the total votes cast. His opponent, Chamisa, trailed behind with 1,906,734 votes, constituting 44% of the overall vote. But the main opposition party, the Citizens Coalition for Change have rejected the results. It says it will not accept fake results. The best court to announce an electoral winner is the people’s court, that is the highest court in an election and we are going to win in that court.

The election in #Zimbabwe was not free and fair. The conduct of FAZ, Zanu PF, ZEC and ZRP has undermined the credibility of any results announced. South Africa and all South African political parties must tell the truth this time around. We can’t afford another 2008.

The SADC secretariat at the headquarters in Gaborone, Botswana released a statement saying they stand side by side with Nevers Mumba, the Head of the SADC Observer Mission, who said, the elections in Zimbabwe fell short of the SADC principles and guidelines governing democratic elections.
