MAPIMPI SHARES PAINPUL PIC UPDATE
Returning to Instagram after his Rugby World Cup exit, Makazole Mapimpi shared a picture of his swollen and bruised face.
“All good here,” the 33-year-old athlete posted.
Mapimpi’s post comes days after he shared a picture of him enjoying some R&R at the seaside.
SPRINGBOK’S INJURY: HOW BAD IS IT?
According to SA Rugby’s Rassie Erasmus, Mapimpi sustained a severe facial injury after a head-on collision with a Tonga rugby player, which forced him to leave the field.
After being consulted by a medical doctor, the extent of his injury was determined: a fractured cheekbone and eye socket. The recovery time frame was between 4 – 6 weeks.
Rassie said in a media briefing: “We will miss him because he is a brilliant rugby player and a fantastic person.”
Rassie added that should the SA progress to the Rugby World Cup final, he would fly Mapimpi and Malcolm Marx – who was also injured – back to France.
