Kiernan Jarryd Forbes (28 January 1988 – 10 February 2023), known professionally as AKA, was a South African rapper. Born and raised in Cape Town, Forbes gained recognition after releasing his single “Victory Lap” from his debut studio album, Altar Ego (2010).

People woke up with heavy hearts early this morning after hearing about the passing of Aka Well- known South African rapper, Kiernan Forbes known as AKA has died. It was reported that Forbes was gunned down outside a restaurant on Florida road in Durban last night. Details of the incident are not yet clear. It’s believed that Forbes was standing on the pavement outside the eatery when shots rang out. The rapper and another victim sustained gunshot wounds and both died at the scene. Forbes was reportedly booked to perform at a Durban club last night. Organizers took to social media, shortly after the news of his passing to announce that the event had been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.

I guess it’s true when they say life is too short and it’s unpredictable. Whatever chance you get make sure you spend it wisely, especially with the people you love creating great memories with them. Because you can wake up one day and die and your family will have nothing to remember you with.

Aka was a very great father and an amazing father to his daughter. He made sure that he was always there even though he was no longer with the mother of the child. It’s known that in most cases when the father breaks up with the mother they also part ways with the child. But with Aka, it was not like he always made sure he was always there for his daughter, birthdays, graduations all that Aka was a present father in his daughter’s life.

After hearing about the death of Aka the first thing that came into people’s minds was Kair. People were worried about Kairo asking themselves how will she take the news of her father’s passing because they were close since she was still young.
