Video: 3 Fake SAPS officers busted after robbing the wrong community

Criminals in South Africa are no longer afraid of the SAPS. These crooks now go around with SAPS uniforms posing as officers, while they rob innocent South Africans. Meanwhile, three men, aged between 28 and 44 years old, were caught during a police operation on Thursday, 16 February 2023, after a robbery at Dassenhoek.

Community members became suspicious of the suspects after spotting them driving around the KwaNdengezi area for two days. The community reported their suspicions to the police, and last night, they heard gunshots and decided to investigate. They saw the same vehicle with five occupants and approached them, but three of the suspects fled in the vehicle while the other two escaped on foot.

The police intercepted the vehicle in Tshelimnyama and found a bulletproof vest bag, handcuffs, SAPS reflective vest, raincoat, track jacket and caps belonging to SAPS, two pistol holsters, and registration plates during the search.

According to reports, one of the suspects, who works as a protection officer for the municipality, was caught with a pistol and was using a municipal vehicle to transport his accomplices to commit the crimes. He was charged with being in unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of suspected stolen property, and impersonating a police officer. The three suspects will face their charges in the Pinetown Magistrates Court on Monday, 20 February.
