Akin Faminu Inducted Into the BoF 500 Class of 2026 for Elevating Nigerian Menswear

Nigerian medical doctor, fashion creative, and content creator Akin Faminu has been inducted into The Business of Fashion 500 Class of 2026. The prestigious list honors 500 individuals shaping the global fashion industry, and Faminu’s inclusion places him among its most influential figures.

The recognition arrives during a significant year for Faminu, who recently married Kiky Festus. Known for merging his medical career with a passion for style, he has established a distinct voice in African menswear while using digital platforms to explore fashion and culture.

The Business of Fashion cited Faminu’s sartorial perspective, digital influence, and long-standing contribution to contemporary menswear across Nigeria and beyond. In its description, BoF noted that his sharp tailoring and statement pieces put Nigerian menswear on the global radar while he forged a second career as a fashion influencer.

A Statement Look for the Occasion

For the BoF 500 Class of 2026 Gala in Paris, Faminu wore a custom double-breasted suit by Nigerian fashion house Deji & Kola. The deep plum suit featured clean padded shoulders and relaxed wide-leg trousers. Dark velvet lapel overlays and metallic copper and bronze leaf embroidery ran down the chest and across the jacket flap pockets. He styled the jacket over an unbuttoned velvet shirt, completing the look with gold-framed tinted sunglasses, a statement ring, and black dress shoes.
